Terms of Use

1. The service

PairBooth is a browser-based service that lets two people create a temporary private booth, take alternating photos, apply styles and download a combined photo strip. It is not a video-call, cloud-backup, identity-verification or emergency service.

2. Eligibility and authority

You must be at least 16 and legally able to accept these terms. If you use PairBooth for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation. The service is not intended for children and must not be used to photograph children.

3. Consent is mandatory

4. Your content and licence

You retain the rights you hold in your photos. You grant PairBooth a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and temporary licence to host, copy, resize, combine, display to the two booth participants and transmit your content solely to operate the booth and produce the requested download. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for limited technical backups or preservation required by law.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed for every image you submit and that its processing through PairBooth does not violate privacy, publicity, copyright or other rights.

5. Prohibited content and conduct

You must not use PairBooth to create, upload, request, possess or distribute:

You must not scrape, probe, overload, reverse engineer, bypass access controls, automate room creation at scale, guess codes, interfere with another booth or use the service to build a facial or biometric database.

6. Booth codes and participant actions

Anyone with a valid code or invite link may attempt to join the associated booth. Treat both as confidential. PairBooth is not responsible for disclosure caused by a participant sharing a code with the wrong person. Leave and end the booth if an unexpected person joins.

7. Downloads and sharing

A downloaded image is no longer controlled by PairBooth. The downloader is responsible for storing and sharing it lawfully, securely and only with any required permission. PairBooth cannot retrieve copies saved, screenshotted, messaged, posted or backed up by users or third parties.

8. Reports, removal and cooperation

Send privacy, image-rights, copyright and abuse reports to [email protected]. Include enough non-sensitive information to locate and assess the issue. PairBooth may close rooms, remove content, restrict access, preserve evidence when lawfully required and cooperate with competent authorities. Illegal sexual content involving minors will be removed and handled as required by applicable law.

9. Intellectual property

The PairBooth name, original logo, interface, copy and software are owned by or licensed to the operator and may not be copied or used to imply endorsement. User photographs remain subject to their respective rights. Third-party names and services belong to their owners.

10. Service changes and availability

The service may be changed, limited, suspended or discontinued, and temporary booths may expire or be deleted. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, compatibility with every browser or recovery of lost photos. Download important strips promptly.

11. Disclaimers

PairBooth is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, no warranty is made that it will always be secure, uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory guarantees or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Responsibility and liability

Each participant is responsible for their captures, invitations, downloads and external sharing. To the extent permitted by law, PairBooth is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, lost opportunities, user-controlled copies, unauthorised sharing by another participant, or events outside reasonable control. Nothing limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot legally be limited.

13. Indemnity for unlawful use

Where legally permitted, a commercial or organisational user agrees to reimburse reasonable losses and costs arising directly from that user’s unlawful content, infringement or deliberate breach of these terms. This clause does not reduce mandatory consumer protections.

14. Ending access

You may stop using PairBooth at any time and can select “End booth & delete photos”. PairBooth may restrict or terminate access to protect users, infrastructure or legal rights. Sections that logically survive termination—including ownership, responsibility and dispute terms—continue to apply.

15. Governing law and consumers

These terms are governed by Belgian law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available under the law of their habitual residence. Courts are determined by applicable procedural and consumer law; these terms do not force a consumer to waive a forum they are legally entitled to use.

16. Changes and contact

Material changes will be dated and posted here. Continued use after the effective date means the updated terms apply to later use. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
